does sex really induce labor? NO PERVS!?
Im 38 weeks pregnant and i've heard that sex can induce labor. Did this work for you and if so how many weeks were you when you went into labor? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!
The Answer by moongoddess209 :
I didn't need to use this since I went into labor in the 37th week…but it is supposed to be true. The seamen actually softens the uterus and helps get the baby to drop…if what I have read is true. Here is a site that references reports in both sides of the argument.

It will only work if your body is ready to go into labor, same with any self induction method. The reason it CAN work is because if you have an orgasm it causes the uterus to start contracting. Also some say the male's sperm can help in softening the cervix.

Sorry … Didn't help me at all. We had regular sex until I was 42 weeks pregnant…. Yep 42 weeks…. so I think that it may have helped my son stay in …. I finally went into labor after eating a spicy hungarian soup and taking a walk around the block…. good luck… and try as many old wives tales as you want until you get your child out…

I believe in not trying to force the child before they're ready.
Contractions can be caused by sex [actually even diarrhea] but if the baby isn't ready then most likely the pain of contractions will be in vain and not start labor.
Contractions don't induce labor, doctors don't know what does…

sex does not necessarily induce labor….it can cause you to have some contractions which usually do not last. If your trying to induce your own labor my best is advice is don't! When your body goes into labor naturally on it's own it is much easier than any way we think we can try to trick our body.

It isn't the sex, it's the orgasm. When you have an orgasm your uterus and the muscles around it contract. If your body is close to being in labor, you can jump start the process. But if your body isn't ready it isn't going to happen

i never liked having sex when i was pregnate so we didnt do it regularly. when i was 38 weeks we did it and i gave birth the very next day. I wasnt trying to induce labor or anything but it happend. I might have been because i was working 50+ hours a week on my feet. staying active will help a lot, as long as you feel like you can handle it.

Yes, in some cases sex can induce labor. It didn't work for either one of my friends who were very disappointed!!! Ask your physician whether he/she advises this. Some will and some won't, depending on your circumstances. Good luck, and congratulations!!

i think it will work if you are ready to go into to labour……i got induced early but i have friends that tried everything to help them along (sex, jogging etc) and it didnt help at all. my advice is to get as much rest as you can!

It didn't work for me. I went into labor after my OB Doc stripped my membranes.
