Sex to induce labor….?

I was wondering, im nearing my due date, im dialated, effaced, and losing my mucus plug. Ive tried sex to induce labor, and all I get are painful braxton hicks like a minute apart. Is that good getting them? Does that mean im close? And is that what eventually turns into real contractions? And did sex just cause BH for anyone else? Thanks everyone!
would having sex a little rough help too?
I tried castor oil, didnt work. I tried it twice. I dont want to try anymore.

I just asked my midwife today if I was allowed to have sex after I lost my mucus plug ( I haven't yet) she said yes. Sex is fine up until labor and it will help get things going. It is good that you are getting Braxton Hicks they are strengthening you uterus for the job ahead and they do turn into real contractions. I hope you get to meet your baby soon!!! I am 37 weeks and can't wait!!!

It depends on how far along you are.
Yes, BH turn to real contrax, they're the practice contractions. If your body is ready to deliver then sex can help. There is a chemical in the semen that helps start labor. I can't think of it off-hand.
I do know that we had sex and the next day I was in L&D!

If you have dialted already, I wouldn't advise sexual intercourse. The mucous plug is to keep out infection, and if you are dilating, and lost your mucous plug, the only thing you can do is be patient.
However I have read that nipple stimulation releases a hormone called oxytocin, which is what helps to stimulate labor. But actual intercourse may not be the best solution for you right now.

just take castrol oil, i was the same, so i took 2 table spoons in orange juice and 2 hours later i was in labour.

ok sex to induce works and you are close go to the doctors right away. my sister has had six children and went in right away after it started to hurt.

tried and failed. lol have you tried stimulating your nipples? when you do it releases a hormone into your body to get labor moving along. if your contractions keep coming they might not be braxton hicks. if they keep at it and get more painful go to the hospital.

braxtons hicks can turn into the real thing…i know this might sound funny but try eating spicy food before sex..these are two things that help put you into labor..once i see my ob tomm im gonna do both of these..im so ready for this baby to come out..and i bet you are too..and yes it is good to get the braxton hicks..and it does mean you are close b.c they will trigger real ones..good luck and congrats..
