Which one helps induce labor?
Everyone says sex induces labor. Is it the penetration or the orgasm that helps induce?
I'm 37 and a half weeks… so my baby wont be harmed!
The Answer by Mayarosie :
The orgasm causes your uterus to naturally contract. But if he ejaculates, the sperm will soften your cervix (your cervix needs to be 100% effaced in order to dilate all the way to 10cm)
so either way, sex helps with labor
if having sex with your partner doesn't bring you to orgasm, don't be afraid to do it yourself!

It's the orgasm. It causes your uterus to contract and IF your body is ready to go into labor it will help.

probally both but walking is NO#1 to help bring it about if your body is ready

GOOD QUESTION!
Sex helped move my labour along!
I think that it's actually something in the ejaculation. I may be wrong, don't quote me on it. I'm defiently going to be following along with this question:)

Ive never heard of that. The baby will birth when its ready. Why would you want to rush him/her before their time?

It is in the man's sperm. My OB/GYN told me that there is a hormone in sperm that will cause contractions…and which is helpful to induce labor….I am not sure about the orgasm on the woman's part…but it sounds plausible as well.

the orgasam helps your uterus to contract but it is the seman that softens the cervix and helps it to start to dilate

Its the orgasm and sperm, there is some sort of enzyme in the semen that helps soften the cervix and start moving things along. Hasn't worked for me yet and I'm 38 weeks.
